Voting in club elections
Who can vote, how your ballot stays secret, and how to check it was counted.
Can I vote?
Open the election from Elections. The Your ballot card tells you whether you can vote, and if not, why. Each election sets which members can vote and how long you need to have been a member.
Casting your ballot
For each position, choose one candidate or Abstain. Every position needs an answer. Then choose Cast my ballot.
You get one ballot and can't change it afterwards, so take your time.
Your receipt
After you vote you'll see a short receipt code, once. Write it down or take a screenshot. It's the only way to find your ballot in the Public ballot ledger, and Colors can't show it to you again.
The ledger lists every ballot by receipt, chained together so that a changed or removed ballot would show. Anyone can press Verify chain to check it. The ledger never shows anyone's choices next to their name.
Who can see what
Your choices and the list of who has voted are stored separately. The president and secretary can see who has voted, so they can tell how close the club is to quorum. Nobody can see how you voted.
Quorum and results
The election page shows how many ballots are in and how many are needed for quorum. Totals appear only after an officer closes voting, and they're unofficial until an officer certifies them. If too few people voted, the election is recorded as failed.
Proxy voting isn't available in Colors.
